NHunts Point, Bronx
The poor air quality…

I live in a Hunts Point neighborhood and the air quality here no doubt is the worst. Something needs to be done about the very strong oil, diesel fumes that I smell almost every morning for the last few years. The fumes were so strong this morning that my head was hurting. I do know we have lots of factory’s in the back but can’t quite pin point exactly where it’s coming from. My child was not born with asthma but has developed it since the age of 7 also out of nowhere seizures… I think that breathing this air every day is doing it’s damages to all who live in the area. I don’t  really know where to start or who to call but I found this website to see if anyone else besides me notices this problem… Right now I’m one voice but if we get together, we can try to make a difference. We need do  this for ourselves and our families. I guess this is the 1st step for me.. Enough is Enough!! I’ll be checking back to see if anyone responds to this post. I will also share this site with neighbors. We have to care enough to make a change…

although the fertilizer fumes make the air smell like shit, this park is so cute, clean, and chill. Theres a nice ass free pool above the river. I also can’t forget the awesome view. Summer needs to hurry up.

Did you know?

Hunts Point is home to one of the largest food distribution centers in the world, covering 329 acres.

The Produce and Meat Distribution Center were opened along the Bronx river in 1967 and 1974, respectively. In 2005, Hunts Point became the site for New York City’s New Fulton Fish Market, which replaced the 180 year old fish market formerly located in downtown Manhattan.

Over 800 industrial businesses, employing over 25,000 workers, are located on the peninsula. A large concentration of food wholesalers, distributors, and food processing businesses are located in the New York City zoned industrial business park.
